The Vacation--Part 4

Thursday was our "Fun Day at Sea," meaning we spent the whole day sailing back from Ensenada to Long Beach. It wasn't exactly smooth sailing, since we were moving so fast the boat rocked around a lot. I woke up feeling sick again Thursday. I stayed in bed for most of the morning while the others went up and did some activities like mini golf and swimming. I was able to join the rest for lunch but didn't eat anything. After lunch it was naptime of course! (We slept a lot on the ship haha.) After we all woke up, we went to the "Hasbro Game Show" which was pretty fun. They got people out of the audience to participate in larger-than-life Hasbro games. The kids liked watching the participants, but mostly what they did was run around dancing and laughing. I was still feeling sick and Dustin didn't feel like dealing with the girls at the dinner table, so after the game show Josh and Appols took Carson to dinner while Dustin and the girls and I went up to the buffet.

Since we were on vacation, Dustin and I decided it would be much easier to just let the girls do what they wanted then fight them to eat healthy. So that night they had cake and ice cream for dinner! Eleanor loved it. She dug into her cake before Dustin got back with a fork and made a wonderful little mess all over. Even with the cake, Eleanor still ended up having a minor melt down over something and ended up crying on the floor. A nice family with a daughter a little younger than Eleanor came over so the kids could play, and immediately Eleanor perked up and had tons of fun playing with their little girl. I was grateful they came over because I couldn't do much for my girls at that point. Dustin was trying to eat dinner and I was feeling super seasick on top of my illness from the day before. After dinner we went to another show, a really fun song-and-dance performance. The kids actually really enjoyed it. Lia loved the brightly colored, pretty dresses on the girls and all three of them had a blast dancing along.

We got all our stuff packed up that night and made sure we were ready to get off the boat first thing in the morning. We chose to have our bags taken off the boat the night before instead of taking them ourselves, thinking that it would be faster, but it turned out that the people who took their own luggage were called to disembark first. While we ate breakfast, we chatted with the couple at the table next to us on deck, some Californians that happened to be LDS. They told us traffic out of California was always bad on Friday afternoon, so we were really hoping to get back before then. While we were talking, a cruise staff member walked by and Dustin nudged Eleanor out of his way with his hand. Immediately, she put her hand up to her head and said in complete outrage "Hey! That boy touch my hair!" It was pretty funny.

Lia took this picture of Dustin and I just chilling in the cabin, waiting around for dinner time.
Calling Josh and Appols cabin to see what the plan for the day is.

Eleanor had cake for dinner. Dig right in!
This was at the musical performance. For most of the show, the three kids were dancing in the aisles and generally being crazy. For a few minutes, though, they all just sat and watched.

We ended up waiting over two hours till our numbers were called. We were kind of upset that our numbers were pretty much the last to be called, but it ended up being a good thing we hadn't tried to take our own luggage off because we barely made it with the two girls in their strollers and our carry-ons.

We finally made it back to our car around noon and got on the road. We hoped to make it out of Cali quickly, but thanks to Lia's steady diet of chocolate milk on board, she was constipated pretty bad. We ended up making several pit stops so she could try to take care of the problem. We ended up stuck in traffic again heading out of Cali. I swear it takes FOREVER to drive through California! I think we didn't make it to Nevada until after 7 pm. It was almost dark by the time we left Primm, Nevada, right on the California border, and from there we drove straight through Nevada and Utah and didn't stop again until we needed to fill up gas in Beaver. We were all so ready to get home by this point, and we flew through the rest of Utah until we finally pulled in to Annabella a little after 1 am. We stumbled straight to bed and slept in the next day!

Dustin and I stayed in Annabella Saturday to rest for a day before getting in the car again. Dustin's mom had been watching Luna while we were gone, so we went and picked her up and had a nice dinner there. On Sunday, Dustin, the girls, and myself headed back to Salt Lake. We finally made it home that evening, and we were glad to be back! We had a great time, but it's always good to be home!
On the drive back to Utah. This was the only time on the whole trip they were all sleeping in the car at the same time.
